Discover The Classic Martini
The Classic Martini is one of the most iconic cocktails in the world, defined by its elegance, simplicity, and timeless appeal. Traditionally made with gin and dry vermouth, and garnished with either an olive or a lemon twist, the martini dates back to the late 19th or early 20th century. Over the decades, it has evolved through different eras of drinking culture, yet it remains a staple for those who appreciate a clean, spirit-forward cocktail with refined balance.
Making a perfect classic martini is all about technique and personal preference. A typical ratio ranges from 2:1 to 5:1 gin to vermouth, depending on how "dry" you like it. Stirring the mixture with ice (never shaking, unless you’re channeling James Bond) ensures a silky, clear drink with just the right level of dilution. The choice of garnish also matters: an olive adds briny depth, while a lemon twist offers a bright, aromatic finish. For those who prefer vodka, the Vodka Martini offers a cleaner, more neutral alternative to the gin version. For those who like a low alcohol alternative, using the Clean G in replacement of Gin is a great option.
The Classic Martini Minimalism
The martini’s minimalism is part of its enduring charm. It’s a drink that showcases the quality of its ingredients and the skill of the person making it. Whether sipped at a classic cocktail bar, served at a formal event, or enjoyed at home with a cold bottle of Clean G and a chilled glass, the classic martini stands as a symbol of sophistication. Its strong yet balanced flavour makes it a favourite among purists and cocktail enthusiasts alike.
How The Low Alcohol Version Is Made
We keep the vermouth but replace full-strength gin with alcohol-free Clean G, reducing the overall ABV content. Same delicious taste, just less alcohol. This recipe uses olive brine for an extra salty kick, but you could substitute this with lemon juice if you prefer something a bit more zesty.
